Nothing is as good as great battle music.
The most common question for New World is, “How do I unlock all the instruments?” or “What can I do in the Summer Medley Event?” This guide will help you begin your journey to the Summer Medleyfaire Event and learn how to collect your instruments and fish decorations and add them to your New World account. It is as simple as following the main Summer Medleyfaire quest, but there are a few things that can catch you off-guard, which with the guide, will help you figure out where to get started. Alternatively, you can still use this guide if you get stuck wondering what to do next for this event. This way, you can continue your quest and unlock all the instruments while unlocking anything musical.
What is the Summer Medleyfaire
The Summer Medleyfair event is a music and fishing-themed event that allow you to unlock new rewards and trophies such as:
● House Decorations
● Skin-Mounted Fish Trophies
● Fishing Experience
● Blueprints to craft
Requirements
Before we are to start the quest, be sure you have reached at least level 20; this is the requirement to participate in the Summer Medleyfaire Event questline. If you are already level 20, proceed with the rest of the guide.
How to Participate
You will be following a questline between the event villages Brightwood, Everdall, Monarchs Bluffs, Weaver’s Fen, and of course, Medleyfaire. The maestro will give you the quest chain that must be completed to unlock the event-exclusive song for a new trade skill and instruments from each settlement. The fastest way to gain a reputation with the maestro will be to dance at each village event once a day.
Summer Medleyfaire Rewards
As you journey through this event, visit each grand bestowment from the villages mentioned earlier (Brightwood, Everdall, Monarchs Bluffs, Weaver’s Fen). Gifts are waiting for you in each town to interact with them. You can expect to receive one of the three gifts with rewards associated with the event, New World Coins, event tokens, and event-themed gear. Interacting with the gifts will award you an event reputation, so remember to do this daily. Diamond Gypsum has also been relocated to these locations while the Summer Medleyfaire event is active.
Opening Medleyfaire Caches
Inside Medleyfaire caches gives you each of the five instruments offered in the event. Remember that these instruments are also upgradeable, so feel free to get their levels up.
Summer Medleyfaire Event Tokens
The primary currency we will collect to purchase items during this event is Medleyfaire tokens. There are multiple ways to get these tokens.
Method 1
The first way of getting these tokens is from the dismal daily bestowments. These tokens, like the Christmas ones, can be exchanged at the vendors in the trailers of the Medleyfaire Towns. With 25 regular tokens is equal to 1 grader token and vice versa. In this event, you will have to exchange 25 tokens, plus some azoth, for making each premium token.
Method 2.1
Suppose you were to farm for these New World Summer Medleyfaire event tokens. Simply exchange 50 modeling dust for a token. The dust comes from completing a model and a bug swarm. Throughout your adventure, there will be Maudlinbugs Swarms that are listed on the map.
Throughout your adventure, there will be Maudlinbugs Swarms that are listed on the map. Go head to those spots and deal with them; they will pop in and out of your map. You can either walk over to each spot or stay and wait a while if you are not up to running to each spot. What makes this better is that they aren’t too far from fast-travel locations, so instead, travel to each spot to go through them quickly. This is where you will gather the dust required and bait. What makes it even more worthwhile is that it will also give you additional reputation per gather.
Method 2.2
The alternative way to create these tokens is with the Aeternum Sturgeon fillets. To get fillets, you need to use the bait from Maudlinbugs and get Aeternum Sturgeon fish. Once you have the fish, exchange them for ten fillets and receive a token during the festival.
Once you are done farming for Maudlinbug Swarms, it will give you the bait that you need to fish for Aeternum Sturgeon fish. We are fishing for unique event fish that only come in Summer Medleyfair. You need to catch at least three. Usually, it requires you to use around 10 of the bait to catch 3 of the fish.
Method 3
Finally, turning in three Aeternum Sturgeon scales will give you one Medleyfaire token. These also are collected from fishing Aeternum Sturgeon fish.
Unlocking Fast Travel
The first thing on our list is going straight to Medleyfaire before we can start collecting the instruments. Open your map and search for the “Medleyfaire” icon northeast of Salt Hollow. Once you are done traveling there, unlock the teleporter to allow you to go to and from the location, then start the first quest. Unlocking teleport locations must be done for all locations. It will be a massive benefit for you.
Common Items To Have
Now that you have started your first quest, you need a few items in your inventory to be more efficient. This will make it easier for you as you progress. If you already have these in your inventory, that is even better.
1. Reeds
2. Flint
3. Green Wood
4. Water
These essential items save you from going back and forth in your first quest and going straight ahead and progressing instead of grinding for them. Throughout the questline, they will make you do some events, and these items are the requirements. These items are easy to grind for and are pretty cheap, which makes these everyday items easy to obtain. You can even purchase them at the New World Market if you want to save time and have the money to buy them.
Summer Medleyfaire Event Quests
As this event is focused on music and fish, you will receive a quest that needs you to fish for three Aeternum Sturgeons at some point. We mentioned earlier how to fish for them with the Maudlinbugs bait, and this will give you items such as:
● Pristine Soaked Wood
● Assorted Seagrass
● Stuffing
Take these to the building in the Medleyfaire villages and interact with them, or craft three different displays. You can mount fish as your decorations using these stands in your home.
Utilize Your Journal
Open up your journal if you start to feel lost, as it will show you where the event quest needs you to go. These quests do not take you to any dangerous locations; the locations you are going to are accessible as they are close to fast travel spots. Each time you go to where the quest asks you to go, teleport to the location, talk to the people and bring them back, then proceed with the next quest, which will give you Medleyfair caches.
Event Shops & Items
There are unique items you should look forward to collecting. These items include food decors from home skins to patterns, or you can purchase items required instead of collecting the fish trophies. Avoid spending event tokens, as these can be easily gathered from fishing.
If you can reach the maximum reputation, you can unlock unique patterns and can guarantee to roll a gear score of 600 random stats. You can also max your expertise by crafting gear with unique skins. These methods should provide you with a stockpile of tokens as the event unfolds. Be sure to return to the vendors, as they will disappear after the event.
How To Get Musical Instruments
Musical Instruments are a rhythm-action-based trade skill coming to Aeternum. There are five instruments you can pick up. With an initial 31 songs to collect, which you can play solo with up to 5 Adventurers.
The musical instruments are:
● Guitar
● Mandolin
● Upright Bass
● Drums
● Azoth Flute
You can unlock songs by salvaging pages hidden throughout Aeternum by completing the Summer Medleyfaire quests. Earn a unique set of pages and starter instruments or craft better instruments through the Furnishing trade skill. Furnishing can also roll new Music trade skill-specific perks.
Press the F5 key to initiate a performance. Each one will reward players with trade skill XP and various buffs. Better performances receive stronger buffs and more trade-skill XP. Spectators enjoying the show will also receive a buff and can tip the performers a coin.
More buffs unlock as your trade skill XP increases. The buffs (in order of progression) are:

Playing Summer Medleyfair Event with Friends
Either friend that is playing, or returning players, you can play these quests together to save a lot of time. Remember, when you Perform a Performance and press F5, it will tell you that you cannot initiate this action if you are close to somebody unless you are a part of the group.
Conclusion
With so many things to unlock and collect, there is no harm in collecting them all, especially since these rewards are easy to get by farming for the items and tokens, while others just require you to check into the villages. The Summer Medleyfaire is an event with free rewards where you do not need to spend money and take full advantage of the event. Hopefully, this guide sets your expectations and helps you look forward to the rewards the event gives. Good luck on your travels, adventurer, ’til we meet again!
