The Curse Jar is a jar that has been painted like the “Curse” item sold by Oswald. When an unsuspecting player tries to open it they will receive the curse status effect. The jar is sealed with a cork, so trying to remove it will also give you the curse status effect.
The Curse Jar was subject to an Easter Egg in the Crown of the Sunken King DLC. When dropped into water or thrown at an enemy, it would behave like the jar instead of transforming them into a Corrupted. The origins of the Curse Jar come from a Dark Souls II user named MattWoomer. He was looking for an excuse to make a cursed jar and started drawing comics about it, but he didn’t stop there! It’s best to avoid coming in contact with this little guy… but if you see one, soothe it immediately to remove curse status. If you can’t get rid of it, well… good luck out there!

The benefits of using a Curse Jar
There’s a Curse Jar Easter Egg in the DLC, Crown of Sunken King. It works just like the jar does in Dark Souls II – if you drop it into water or throw it at an enemy, it will behave exactly like a curse instead of transforming them into a Corrupted! This is great for farming souls and other goodies!

How to use your Curse Jar to get what you want
If you can’t or don’t want to farm for what you want, just throw the jar at an enemy! This will work even if they are dead. Besides being cursed, enemies hit with a Curse Jar have a chance to drop rare loot! Of course, using it this way will always have the possibility of cursing yourself… but hey – don’t be greedy!
